Westosha Central nips Union Grove
Westosha Central improved to 3-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 5-2 overall with a 4-2 victory over 7th ranked Union Grove 4-2 in Paddock Lake on Thursday. Alyssa Hrncar earned the complete game win, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 10. “Alyssa was her consistent self tonight. She battled their line up all night.” (co head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons broke open a scoreless game with a 3 run 2nd inning. Brooke Biedrzycki led off with a single. One out later Heidi Holmstrom walked, putting 2 runners on. The Falcons plated their first run on an RBI single by Alyssa Hrncar. One batter later, Chyanne Onstad delivered a two out single to score both Holmstrom and Hrncar. “That was a big moment in the game. Scoring with two outs has been a habit of ours lately. It’s something that is key to successful teams.” (co-head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons added another run in the 3rd. Elaine Andersen led off the inning with a walk. She reached second on a single by Julia Jester. A base hit by Olivia Klean scored Andersen with Westosha’s final run. The Broncos rallied with two runs in the 5th inning. Brittany Moore started the scoring with a one-out home run to left field. One out later a base hit by Kalista Hribar and a double by Sam Carey cut the Falcon lead in half. Westosha was able to escape any further damage when Jester made a sliding catch of a line drive to end the threat. At that point Hrncar shut down any further Bronco uprisings. For the last four innings she struck out 4 and allowed one more hit. “This was very well played game by both teams. Grove played us a well as any team we played this season. This was a classic SLC game.” (co-head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons return to action this Saturday when they play Beaver Dam in the opening game of the Western Kenosha County Invite in Paddock Lake.
Iola-Scandinavia knocks off Shiocton

SHIOCTON – Kendall Johnson got the momentum going with a two run homerun in the second, helping to lead her team to victory at the plate and on the mound.

Kendall pitched a tremendous game, we had key hits at key times-obviously the homerun in the second. Brooklyn Podgorny also had a sac fly that gave us the fourth run; it was her first varisty at bat. Good overall game, we did really well,” said Iola-Scandanavia coach Tom Anderson
