Poynette tips Lakeside Lutheran, 14-4

Collect 11 hits including another home run by Dredske

Poynette senior catcher Emily Cibulka drove a clutch double off the fence in leftfield in the top of the second inning to stake the Pumas to a 3-0 lead on Lakeside Lutheran in Lake Mills. With one down and nobody aboard Riley Barnharst was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dani Treinen.  Jenna Sandstrom then drew a base on balls of Warriors’ pitcher Hollie Doyle and Jordan Blochwitz did the same to load the bases. Cibulka took a 3-1 pitch to the fence and courtesy runner Jordi Horne scored later when after a single by Jordyn Mackey, Shelby Wheeler laced a triple to the gap in rightcenter. All-in-all the Pumas scored five after there were two outs and one aboard.  Jen Schubkegel doubled off Blochwitz with one out in the bottom of the second and later scored on a single by Emily Stade. In the Pumas’ fourth Sandstrom singled to left to lead off the inning and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Blochwitz before Cibulka grounded out to short. Mackey then singled in one run and Wheeler hit sac fly to center and scored on a single by Amber Breuch. Brooke Dredske then launchd her second automatci home run of the season, this one over the fenc ein left. Lakeside picked up an unearned run in the bottom of fourth on a single by Ashley Kohls with two down and Stade followed with another single. An error at second allowed a run to score before a ground ball to second ended the inning. Thje Warriors added another unearned run in the fifth but the Pumas responded in the sixth with two runs on a double by Jordi Horne. Poynette added three more runs in the seventh on back to back walks to Blochwitz and Cibulka before Wheeler knocked in one run and Dredske the other two on a single up the middle. Blochwitz got the win, scattering eight hits and getting some stellar defensive work from Wheeler at shortstop (turned two double plays). Blochwitz allowed four runs, one earned on eight hits, walked one and fanned five. Leading hitters for Poynette were Jordyn Mackey (2x5), Shelby Wheeler (2x3) and Brooke Dredske (2x5). The Pumas who moved to 3-0 take on New Glarus on Friday in Poynette.
