Westosha Central takes down Elkhorn

Kayla Konwent hits her 9th home run of the season

The Westosha Central Falcons started slow but finished with seven  runs in the last three innings to defeat Elkhorn 11-1.  Alyssa Hrncar pitched all seven innings, allowing only 4 hits and one earned run.  The Falcons offense was led by Kayla Konwent’s 3-hit, two RBI performance, including her 9th home run in the 1st to give the Falcons the lead they never relinquished.  Olivia Klean also added to the offense plating 3 runners on 3 hits and an sacrifice fly.  Julia Jester added two doubles, scoring twice and Hrncar scored three times.   Jenna Kontaxis add”ed two RBIs in the victory.  “It took us a while to really get going,” said co-head coach Tom Lampe.  Credit Elkhorn for keeping us in check.  But we finally settled in and started driving the ball.  Once we began to do that, Alyssa was able to settle in behind a very solid defense.”  Westosha improved to 7-0 in the Southern Lakes and maintained its 1.5 game lead over Union Grove.  They are 12-2 overall.  The Falcons will return to action this Thursday when they host Burlington in Paddock Lake.
