Final was 5-4 and was determined in the 7th

A walk off single by Sam Talavera scored two runs as Waterford survived a wild 7th inning to defeat Westosha Central 5-4 in Waterford.

Jaydin Kiser earned the win pitching 2 innings in relief of Darby O'Dwyer. Meghan Lampos took the loss in a complete game effort.  The Wolverines struck first in the 4th inning.  Julia Runte led off with a double and Kiser was walked.  Ella Greil hit a one-out triple to right scoring two runs.  Waterford added another run in the 6th when Kiser reached on a single and was plated by Payton Snifka.  O'Dwyer kept the Falcons frustrated with 5 solid innings in the circle.  In that time she only allowed one run while striking out 3.  But the Falcon offense erupted in the 7th.  Allie Loucas led off with a single.  One out later she scored on a single by Emma Smith.  Mykenna Sturino followed with a single and Lila McNeill was hit by a pitch,, loading the bases.  Maya Gagliardi reached on a fielder's choice and an error on the play scored Smith.  Lampos hit a hard fly ball that was dropped allowing Sturino and McNeill to score.  The Falcons took a short-lived lead into the final frame.  O'Dwyer singled to start the inning.   With two-outs and O'Dwyer at 2nd, Julia Runte reached on a fielder's choice.  Kiser was intentionally walked, setting up Talavera's game ending hit.

"It was an exciting game the whole way," said Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe.  "I like the way we rallied and came back in the 7th.  It hurts that we couldn't quite finish it out but they are a good team and they responded."

With the loss the Falcons drop to 7-1 in the SLC and 9-2 overall.  They return to action tomorrow when they host Badger in an SLC contest.
