Kayla Konwent smashes state leading 8th home run this season

Westosha Central improved to 6-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference with a 14-0 5-inning win at Waterford last night.  The Falcons featured a 14 hit attack. Kayla Konwent began the scoring with her 8th home run to center in the first inning.  The Falcons added 5 in the 2nd when Jenna Kontaxis plated Julia Jester and Heidi Holmstrom with her first double of the game.  She later scored on a single by Konwent.  Kira Mickelson ended the scoring with a double that scored Konwent and Chyanne Onstad.   In the 3rd, Alyssa Hrncar added two RBIs, scoring Holmstrom and Kontaxis and later scored on Onstad’s RBI single.  Jester added two more in the 4th with a double and Hrncar scored Jester with a fielder’s choice to short.  The Falcons final runs came on a single by Brooke Biedrzycki and a Holmstrom ground out.  “The offense really came to life today.  So many girls had key hits and we just put the ball in play all night,”  said co-head coach Tom Lampe.  Alyssa Hrncar earned the win by pitching 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out five.  “Alyssa was her normal self.  She got ahead of the count and made them swing at her pitch.  When she can do that, she is very tough to face,”   added Tom Lampe.  With the win, the Falcons extended their lead  in the SLC to two games over Union Grove and Wilmot.  They return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Elkhorn to face the Elks.
