In a battle of Capitol Conference heavyweights, Marshall got great pitching from senior righthander Morgan Hendricks and a double and home run by Allison Utz to upend the Pirates and take a one-game lead in the early portion of the Capitol South race. Hendricks fanned five and allowed six hits, two doubles by Springer and two hits by Kia Dorn. Utz and Schoenicke each had two hits for Marshall including a Schoenicke double.
