Summaries from today's game around the Badger State

Westosha tops Elkhorn twice including come-from-behind win
It took a furious comeback, but Westosha Central withstood a scare in the second game of a double header to improve to 13-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference.  The Falcons handled Elkhorn 11-0 in the first game and scored 8 late runs to defeat the Elks 15-7 in the second game.  In the first game Alyssa Hrncar threw a two-hit shutout and rode a 5 RBI game by Larkin Langston o cruise to the victory.  Hrncar allowed just three base runners and struck out 5.  “Alyssa looked dominant out there today,” said Falcon Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe. “ Her command was excellent.”
Hrncar added three hits while Taylor Bergles and Heidi Holmstrom added wo hits apiece to the Falcon offensive attack.  But the real offense was suppliesupplied by Langston.  She went 3-for-4, scoring twice and ending the game with a three-run home run.
“Larkin has been in one of those grooves,” added Lampe.  “She has done a great job of carrying us the last few weeks.”
The win gave the Falcons the Southern Lakes Conference championship outright.  The Falcons were sluggish to start the second game and fell behind the Elks 7-1 after two innings.  But they rallied to overtake Elkhorn and win the game 15-7.  Olivia Klean earned the win, pitching all seven innings.  She allowed all seven runs (3 earned) and struck out five.  "Olivia struggled in the first few innings and the defense behind her didn’t help.  But she battled through it and pretty much shut them down after the first two innings.  She gave us the opportunity to get back into the game,” quipped the coach.
The Falcons began their come back with a four-run third inning.  After a Heidi Holmstrom single, Klean helped herself with a single.  After loading the bases, Larkin Langston came through with a two-run one out single to center.  Hailey Jester followed with a sacrifice fly and the Falcons cut the Elk lead to two.  Klean helped herself again with a two out double and scored on an error on a fly ball.  “Olivia had a big game at the plate.  She picked a great time to do it.  There’s nothing like helping yourself,”  added Lampe.

The Falcons tied the game in the fifth on a double by Kayla Konwent and a
single by Kira Mickelson. They took the lead for good with a seven run sixth inning which was highlighted by a Brooke Biedrzycki double that scored two.  “We just kept putting the ball in play and found the spots.  Sometimes that’s all it takes,” Lampe added.
The lead was all the cushion that Klean would need.  She retired the Elks in the last three innings, allowing only three base runners over that span. “She really settled in after the rough start.  She truly earned this victory tonight,”  said
Lampe.
With the win the Falcons improved to 19-3 on the season.  They finish their Southern Lakes
Conference schedule tomorrow when they host Burlington in Paddock Lake.

Lakeside 12, KML 8 and Lakeside 8, WLA 4

The girls played a solid 2 games tonight and put a lot of aspects of the game together tonight.  We had good pitching and good defense and timely hitting.
Our seniors had some great play offensively and defensively. Hollie Doyle and Elise Matthies pitched well and stayed ahead most of the night. It is a great way to end the regular season on a streak of wins as we prepare for a playoff game Thursday night. Bailey Kerr doubled and homered for Lakesdide while Winter Petry went 3x4 with a double in the first game for Lakeside while Jen Schukegel went 3x4, Doyle was 2x4. Doyle allowed 13 hits but walked only two. In game two Matthies scattered three hits, walked four and fanned two. Cassie Doering was 3x3 while Mariah Kuhl went 3x4 with a triple.
