Westosha Central held off a late Wilmot rally to defeat the Panthers 10-8 in Paddock Lake today.  Olivia Klean pitched the first four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) to earn the win.  Alyssa Hrncar pitched the final three innings allowing four runs (three earned) to secure the win.
The Falcons broke out early with a four-run first inning.  The highlight of the inning was a three-run home run by Larkin Langston ( 4 for 4 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs) to centerfield.
“Larkin has been really hitting the ball with authority in the last few weeks.
She is making a habit of getting us out to an early lead lately,”  said  co head coach Tom Lampe.
The Panthers came back, scoring two in the second and two more in the
third.  Back-to-back hits by Kiana Vazquez and Alyssa Horn set up the Panthers with runners on second and third.  Hannah Grossi plated the first run with a sac fly to Taylor Bergles.  Kerrigan Patterson singled to bring in Horn with the second run.

The Panthers tied the game in their half of the third.  Sam Schloegel reached third on an error by the Falcons.  Another sac fly, this time by Lauren
Orszula narrowed the gap.  Sawyer Wightman plated Justine Schattner, who had singled, on a fielder’s choice to tie the game.  The Falcons took the lead for good in the bottom half.  A Langston single and a Wilmot error put runners on second and third.  A wild pitch by Schattner plated Langston and Hailey Jester scored on a Brooke Biedrzycki single.  The Falcons extended the lead on a solo home run by Kayla Konwent (her 8th of the season).

They added three more in the sixth inning.  Kira Mickelson doubled in two runs (Konwent and Langston) and she later scored on an Olivia Klean single to center.  “That wound up being a big run for us,” said Lampe.  “Nobody on our side saw that last inning coming.  That just goes to show you how important every run can be, added Lampe.
The final inning started out uneventful.  After two quick outs the Panthers erupted.  Justine Schattner doubled and after a walk, Alyssa Horn singled in Schattner.  Sawyer Wightman followed with a single to score both Vazquez and Horn.  A Falcon error allowed Wightman to score.  The game ended when Patterson flied out to Bergles.
“That was a rough last inning,”the coach said.  “We need to finish better and no one knows that better than our players.  Give Wilmot credit.  They never stopped coming at us.  I think they got our attention
With the win the Falcons improved to 9-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 15-3 overall.  They have a double header against Elkhorn on Monday in Paddock Lake.
