Westosha Central rode the dominant pitching of Alyssa Hrncar and some key hits to defeat Union Grove 2-1 in a Southern Lakes Conference contest in Paddock Lake. Alyssa Hrncar earned her 9th victory allowing one run on five hits while striking out 14 Broncos. "She had great movement tonight. That's the best I've seen her stuff in a long time. She was really on her game." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) Although the Falcons threatened early, it took until the 3rd inning before they were able to break through. With one out, Kira Mickelson doubled to right center. Carrie Weis moved her to 3rd and she scored on a single by Andrea Edquist. Westosha held on to that lead until the 5th inning when Kalista Hribar hit a solo home run to left center. "She did a good job of going with the pitch. She's such a good hitter. She is able to analyze and adjust pitch by pitch. Most players aren't able to change their approach like she did. Give her credit, she was a tough out all night." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons were able to regain the lead in the 6th inning. With one out Edquist walked. Danielle Gulliford moved Kendall Krumm (courtesy runner) to 2nd where Sarai Robert's double plated her. "Sarai had really come on this season. Especially with the clutch hits. She has really helped to round out our line up." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) The one run lead was all Hrncar needed. She struck out the first two Broncos and got Emily Knight to fly to Weis in center to end the game. "It was good to see us play with poise in a tight game. As the season goes on we will see more games like this one. Finding success will make us stronger as we move on." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) With the victory the Falcons improved to 15-1 overall and 11-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference. They return to action this Saturday when the travel to Kaukauna to take on the 3rd ranked Ghosts in a 4:30 contest.
