3-0 was the final score

Westosha Central improved to 6-1 on the season with a 3-0 road victory in Kaukauna last night. Alyssa Hrncar threw the complete game shut out for her 4th victory of the season. "Alyssa did a good job of spreading out their hits and when a threat appeared, did a good job of effectively getting out of it. This was another example of her mental toughness." (Co-head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons threatened in the opening frame, loading the bases with one out, but Haley Hestekin was able to strike out the next two batters to end the frame. "We were disappointed to let that one get by, but good pitchers are suppose to rise to the occasion and that's what Haley did in that moment." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons finally broke through in the 5th. With one out, Hrncar singled. She reached 2nd on a single by Kayla Konwent. Hrncar scored when Chyanne Onstad followed with another single and courtesy runner Sarai Roberts scampered to third. The next batter, Kira Mickelson hit a fielder's choice grounder to shortstop but Roberts beat the throw to the plate, adding a second run. On the same play, Onstad was able to reach 3rd base. The Falcons literally, stole their final run. Flex, Jenna Kontaxis, running for Mickelson took off for second on the very next pitch and Onstad slide across the plate safely on a double steal. "We knew we had to work on other ways to score runs and just not rely on power hitting. The players did a great job of executing" (co-head coach Tom Lampe) With the lead intact, Hrncar settled in. She relied on her defense, which was nearly flawless. Key plays by Kontaxis, Elaine Andersen, and Kayla Kerkman snuffed out two rallies by the Ghosts. "We're happy to get out of there with the win. They are a very good team and deserving of their rank." (co-head coach Tom Lampe). With the win the Falcons improved to 6-1. They return to action in the Southern Lakes Conference tonight when they host Waterford at 4:30
