Shawano beat Preble, DeForest split games with LaCrosse Central and Rhinelander

River Valley, McFarland, New Glarus also post wins

Some highlights from games played Friday, April 1st

Shawano beats Preble 4-1Megan Trimmer homers for Preble
Julia Beck’s two-run grounder sparked a four-run fifth inning as Shawano defeated Green Bay Preble 4-1.  Julia Haarth and Alli Raddant had singles in the rally inning.  Erin Cerveny earned the complete game victory for Shawano, 1-0.  Rachel Piontek took the loss for Preble, 3-2 overall.   Megan Timmers’ solo home run accounted for Preble’s scoring.

DeForest 4, LaCrosse Central 2
DeForest nipped LaCrosse Central 4-2 via a three-run second inning. Sophomore pitcher Kennedy Wittman notched the victory for the Norskies. She allowed seven hits, two runs both earned, walked none and fanned three. T he loser was Kramer who allowed just four hits three earned runs walked none and also fanned three. Shaw went 2x3 to lead the Norskies at the plate. Harbort and Olson doubled for DeForest . Kramer helped her cause with a 2x4 game at the plate and doubled. Kappaut went 2x4 for Central.

Rhinelander 4, DeForest 1
Rhinelander made the most of their trip south by beating DeForest 4-1. Rhinelander pitcher Schikerrt limited the Norskies to just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked none and fanned 4. Kennedy Wittman took the loss working five innings, allowing three runs, walked none and fanned three. Shaw took over in the sixth walking one and striking out one.  Olson went 2x3 and garnered the only hits for DeForest.

McFarland 7. Orfordville Parkview 4
The Spartans banged out 10 hits to get the win at home. Hoveland was the winner in five innings of work, allowing two runs with neither earned, walked 1 and struck out six. Lexi Kemnitzer finished the game for McFarland pitching two innings and fanning five while issuing no walks. Leading hitters for McFarland were Quelle at 2x4 and Hoveland with a 2x4 day. Parkview collected six hits led by Ryan’s 2x3 day. Grenewalt took the loss allowing 10 hits, five earned runs, walked 3 and fanned two.

River Valley 4, Sauk Prairie 3
The Blackhawks scored three runs in the fifth to overcome 2-0 deficit against The Eagles. River Valley pitcher Kylie Hoffman went 2x4 (now 4-8 on the year). She also picked up the win allowing six hits, one earned run walked 1 and fanned nine. German took the loss and got relief help from Breunig.

New Glarus 19, Monticello 13
This game featured 27 free passes and 24 total hits. New Glarus issued 13 walks and struck out a total nine as two pitchers, Dusen and Judd shared the work.  The loser was Garrison. New Glarus multiple hits batters included Dusen 2x6, Austin 2x4, Judd 3x3, Kramer 3x5 and Bushee 2x3.
