Poynette junior Allie Bredeson and sophomore Haley Radewan combined to throw a four-hitter against Wisconsin Dells on Thursday. They combined to strikeout nine while walking none.

Bredson threw the first three innings and got the win. She surrendered all four hits, two by Dana Percival including a double in the gap in rightcenter field.  Bredeson fanned five in her three innings of work. Radewan tossed the fourth, fifth and sixth, recorded four strikeouts and faced the minimum of three batters in each inning she worked.

The Pumas loaded the bases in the bottom of the first when leadoff slapper, Jordyn Mackey slapped a single that rolled slowly past the pitcher and in front of the second sacker. She beat the throw to first.  She quickly swiped second base on the first pitch to Shelby Wheeler who then bunted t he next pitch so perfectly toward first that she beat the throw as well. After a pop up out, Riley Barnharst walked to load the bases. The Dells got out of the jam when Dani Treinen popped out and Emily Cibulka hit a roller to Percival at short who tossed to third to retire Wheeler.

In the Pumas’ second they scored seven earned runs. Jordan Blochwitz fanned and was thrown out at first after the pitch hit the dirt in front of the catcher.  Jenna Sandstrom then laced a double down the leftfield line and Mya Knuteson drew a base on balls. Jordan Mackey dropped a bunt down for a sacrifice and when Wheeler walked the bases were FOP (full of pumas). Dredske singled and Barnharst walked as did Treinen so two runs were walked across. Cibulka got hit by a pitch which plated yet another run and when Blochwitz singled two more runs scored. The score was then 7-0 in favor or the Pumas.

Junior utility player Jordi Horne led off the Pumas’ fourth with a double to the base of the fence just to the left of the scoreboard at Diamond of Champions. Brea Falstad drew a base on balls after one out had been recorded and  Allie Bredeson then singled to send Horne scooting home. Mackey drove in another run with a ball to third making the score 9-0.

In the Pumas’ sixth Sandstrom collected her second hit of the day and later scored the run to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Wheeler had two hits, Dredske was 2x5 with a double, Horne was 2x2 with a double while Sandstrom was 2x3 with a double.

Poynette boosted its regular season record to 22-1 after finishing Capitol Conference action at 16-=0 earlier this week.
