Kayla Konwent hits 16th and 17th home runs

The Westosha Central Falcons used four home runs (including 2 more by Kayla Konwent) to cruise to a 9-1 victory over Waterford last night.  Konwent hit her 16th ( a 2-run shot in the 2nd) and another 2-run shot in the 4th to add to her team-leading RBI total.  “What can you say about her that hasn’t already been said,” stated Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe. “She put in so much work in the off season to get ready for this season and it clearly has elevated her game to another level

The Falcons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Alyssa Hrncar (2 hits, 2 runs) scored on a Kira Mickelson single.  Brooke Biedrzycki added to the scoring by hitting her 1st home run of the season to open the 2nd.  It was Mickelson’s turn to hit one out in the 3rd with an opposite field shot to right

center.  “She has had a consistent bat all season,” added Lampe.   She is now starting to flash the power.  he picked a great time to pick it up.”

Chyanne Onstad singled in the Falcon’s final run in the 6th.  Hrncar needed only a fraction of the runs to secure her 17th win of the season.  She allowed  hits and only one run (earned) in her 7 innings of work.  Westosha Central flashed some defense behind her as well with a key defensive play made by Julia Jester.  “The defense has been real solid behind Alyssa all season,” quipped the coach.  “They do a great job of communicating and they all take pride in that facet of the game.”

With the win the Falcons improved to 11-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 19-2 overall.  They return to action on Thursday when they host their county rival Wilmot for a 4:30 tilt in Paddock Lake.
