Jordan Blochwitz tossed two-hitter, Brooke Dredske homers for the 5th time this season

Riley Barnharst and Dani Treinen both doubled

Poynette scored one in the second, two in the fourth and three in the sixth en route to its 10th conference win of the season and it's 14th win overall with a 6-0 win over Lakeside Lutheran at Diamond of Champions.

Poynette pitcher Jordan Blochwitz twirled a two-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts to add the win to her career chart. Jenna Sandstrom went 2x2 with two rbi.

Lakeside's Hollie Doyle absorbed the loss but was very good in the circle for most of the game. "That was the best I have seen Doyle pitch," said Poynette coach Bob Tomlinson. "She was around the plate throughout the game and had a variety of speeds that kept us a bit off balance.

The Pumas scored their first run in the second when Riley Barnharst walked and moved to second on a bunt by Dani Treinen. Emily Cibulka had an infield single that put runners on first and third which was followed by a steal of second by the courtesy runner for Cibulka. When Amber Breuch hit a roller to short and was thrown out at first, Barnharst scampered home with the run. The courtesy runner was then erased trying to make it to third after the throw to first retired Bruech. In the fourth inning sophomore third sacker Brooke Dredske took a 2-0 offering over the fence into deep centerfield beyond the playing area. It was Dredske's fifth homer of the season. Treinen followed with double to left and advanced to third on 6-3 grounder off the bat of Cibulka. Treinen then scored on a roller down the line off the bat of Breuch which was booted at third, allowing the run to score and Breuch to be safe. In the Pumas' sixth some insurance was added to the scoreboard when Barnharst doubled off the fence in leftcenter, moved to second when Cibulka drew a base on balls and to third when Jordi Horne did the same. After Doyle recorded a strikeout Sandstrom laced her second single through the hole at short scoring two. When leadoff batter Jordyn Mackeys singled up the middle Horne scored.

The Pumas travel to Watertown on Thursday to take on Luther Prep and host Wisconsin Heights on Friday.
