Takes early lead then holds on for important win

Wilmot broke out to an early lead and held on to defeat Westosha Central 7-5 in Paddock Lake.  Maddie Zerr earned the complete game win.  Olivia Kazumura took the loss.

The game was scoreless until the 3rd when Wilmot plated five to take the lead they would never relinquish.  Alana Buchanan led off with a single and scored after a hit batter and two walks.  Halie Morton singled to score  Zerr with the second Panther run.  Riley Alexander walked to reload the bases and drive Kazumura from the game.  Sami Christiansen added a run on a ground out.

Wilmot added their 4th run on a wild pitch and Haley Lamberson plated the final run on a single.  At that point the Falcons offense came to life.  Becca Edwards scored the first Falcon run with a home run to centerfield.  Central added another run in the 4th when Dana Herman hit a two-out triple and scored on a double by Ellie Witt.

The Falcons added another run in the 6th inning.  Jill Adams hit a one-out double to center.  Herman's 3rd hit, a single scored her.  In the 7th, Wilmot added two more runs.  Haile Morton reached on an error and Riley Alexander singled.  After Christiansen sacrificed the runners, Ambriel Siggeman singled in both runs.  The Falcons responded with two runs of their own.  Olivia Nahorniak led off with a single and Abbey Jones scored her with a triple.  Becca Edwards then plated Jones.  But a double play stalled the rally and after Adam's second double, Zerr induced a ground out to end the game.  "It was a tough loss but they did a great job of taking advantage of their opportunities.  I was happy with the effort to get back into the game, but we gave them too many runners and that cost us in the end."  (co-head coach Tom Lampe)  With the loss the Falcons dropped to 1-1 on the season.

They return to action on Friday when they travel to Oak Creek for a non-conference tilt.
