Career Wins, Conference titles, State Tournament Appearances need updating

The 2018 regular season ended after a late winter and spring overfilled with cold weather, snow and ice storms, rain and then blistering heat.

The half sectionals ended a week ago or more and the sectional semi-finals in all but one site were completed in that oppressive heat. In Poynette on Tuesday both teams, Marshall and Poynette were treated to high speed, fans three feet in diameter blowing into their in-ground dugouts and both dugouts featured EZ-Up shade covers over the entrance areas for more cooling effects. In addition to that  the Poynette Fastpitch Organization provided EZ-Up shades over the entire bleacher sections that were down the baselines past the dugouts.

The temperatures on Thursday were about 10-14 degrees cooler and a breeze blew throughout so things were more manageable but still the PFO provided shade covers for the fans from Dodgeville and Poynette.

One sectional semi was rained suspended up in Maple where Northwestern was hosting Amery. They were also rained out on Wednesday so had to play the rest of the sectional semi-final on Thursday then Amery, the winner had to play Prescott the other sectional finalist in Cumberland on Friday. Amery of course had to make two trips in three days to Maple and then play on back-to-back days.

The state tournament field is set in all five divisions and 16 teams are left to compete from the list of over 400 that started the tournament trail.

I've started to updated the Coaches Honor Roll on the website so take a look at all the categories and see if we are missing anyone or anything. Just send an email to me at faspich1@gmail.com and I will update it. Some of the coaches leading their teams to Goodman Diamond include coaches who were on the list with more than one state tournament berth and more than one Final Four Appearances (Division 1 teams must win a quarter-final game at the state tournament to reach the Final Four).

If you or your coach has reached any of the mileposts on the FPC Coaches Honor Roll be sure to send that information to me
