Three nights with rain, lots of rain. More than 6 inches of rain but the Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree still was played.
The Pumas opened it's four-game Jamboree slate with a game against Mineral Point. The Pumas scored a run in the top of the first (we lost the coin toss) when Casey F. singled, swiped second base, advanced to third and scored as result of one of those 30 ways to score from third rather than second, this time a sacrifice fly by Brianna Schulz. That run would be the only run of the game until the Pumas struck for two more in the top of the seventh on a triple down the rightfield line by Mara M. a base on balls to Lucy C. and both runners scored on a ball that was misplayed at third off the bat of Brianna K. Casey F. twirled a gem to hold off the Pointers with a shutout. She scattered six singles, fanned 9 and issued no free passes. The Pumas had just three safe hits.

In the next game of the day The Pumas played Mishicot, a team ranked high in Division 4 and unbeaten coming into the game. After losing another coin toss Brianna K; got things rolling with a single up the middle and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Casey F. who was safe on the throw to the bag. Mattie B. moved the runners up a base and Mattie Bredeson dropped downa perfect suicide squeeze top plate Brianna. They added four in the second including two on an rbi double by Casey who went 3x4 with 3 rbi in the game. Brianna K. was 3x3, Ashley H. was 3x3 as was Lizzie S. who had an amazing running, diving catch in leftfield. The Pumas collected a baker's dozen in the hit column. Mattie B. got the win for Poynette going 5 innings, scattering nine hits and fanning seven.

On Saturday the Poynette coach had set up another tough slate with Germantown on the docket for game one on Saturday. The Poynette coach said he always enjoys pitting the local kids against Division 1 schools. "Throughout the years we have played some very strong Division 1 opponents and have held our own against all of them. Germantown was a great test for us as they are coached by a seasoned veteran coach who has a long history of playing men's fastpitch,"
The Pumas won the coin toss (know 0x3 in that department) but found themselves down 1-0 when an error at third led to Germantown's first run on a double to the fence in rightcenter. The Pumas hung tight and knotted the contest in the top of he third when with one out Brianna K. reached on a single. Casey F. then followed suit with a single of her own and after Mattie B. walked Brianna Schulz sacrificed her in., drawing even with the team with Germanic background. The game leveled out but the top of the seventh saw Poynette open things up with five runs. Leading hitters included, Casey F. at 4x4 including a double, and Brianna K, at 3x5. Casey F. tossed another tight one with only two runs, one earned, on four hits walked two and whiffed 10.
In the days final game for the Pumas the local kids secured their 14th win of the season as Mattie B. was topnotch with four innings of work, one hit allowed and fanned 10. Molly A. tossed the fifth,a one, two three inning with one K. Mara M. Got things rolling in the bottom of the second with a towering shot that cleared the fence for a home run. Poynette would score six more in the inning. They went scoreless in the second, third, and fourth but the bottom of the fifth produced enough runs to invoke the 10-run mercy rule. Aubri Kitson was 2x2 while Mikayla Sorge hit one hard and hit it high as it cleared the fence next to the scoreboard.
The Pumas have a key doubleheader on Tuesday at Columbus then play a twinbill at Luther Prep on Thursday, a single game at home vs Lakeside Lutheran on Friday and trip to the Dodgeland invite on Saturday for two more games.
