Westosha Central used a combine no-hitter, along with a 9-hit attack to defeat Lake Geneva Badger 11-0 in 5 innings. Olivia Kazumura and Ellie Christesen combine to no-hit the Badgers. They allowed 2 walks while striking out 10. “The pitching was outstanding tonight. Olivia left off from her dominant performance yesterday (against Waterford) and Ellie showed a lot of poise in her first varsity game in the circle. The Falcons began their offensive onslaught early, plating 3 in the 1st inning. Kayla Kerman led off with a single, then stole 2nd and 3rd. She scored on an infield hit by Carlie Odejewski. Odejewski scored on a triple to left center by Becca Edwards and Edwards was plated on a ground out by Danielle Gulliford. The Falcons scored again in the second when Kazumura led off with a single. Her courtesy runner, Abby Jones was moved to third and scored on a wild pitch. The Falcons also added runs by Rylee Johnson and Kerkman scored again on a single by Edwards. The offense added a run in the 3rd and two more in the 4th. They ended the contest when Molly Grabarec doubled with Jones on 2nd base. In the ensuing chaos, Grabarec was able to come around to home for the Falcons final run. "The bats came around today. We were more patient at the plate today. With that said, there is still improvement to be made. Nobody knows that more than the team itself” (co-head coach Tom Lampe) With the win the Falcons improved to 2-0 on the season and in the SLC.

Westosha Central dropped its first game of the season when it fell to Burlington 6-1 last night. Olivia Kazumura took the loss while Josie Klein earned the complete game victory. Key hits at the right time allowed Burlington to build a 6-0 lead. All the runs that Burlington would need were scored in the 3rd inning. Kazumura hit Gracie Peterson and Jaina Westphal and then walked Maddie Berezowitz. After striking out Klein, Bridi Allen hit a double off the left field wall scoring two. They added another run on a ground out by Alexandria Naber. The Demons scored an unearned run in the 5th and two more in the 6th when Allen hit her second double, scoring Westphal and Klein. The Falcons avoided the shut out when Alex Kelly doubled and scored on an infield out by Haley Hovland. “Give Burlington credit. They played a solid game, were patient at the plate and deserved the victory tonight. We didn't play poorly, they just played well. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team. We will learn from this and move forward.” (co-head coach Tom Lampe). With the loss the Falcons dropped to 2-1 in the Southern Lakes and overall. They will travel to Wilmot tomorrow to face the Panthers.
