Poynette, WI - SPASH hosted Wisconsin Rapids today at Diamond of Champions in Poynette due to unplayable conditions in Wisconsin Rapids. Poynette was on the road in Lodi and provided two fields in great playing condition to the pair of Wisconsin Valley teams. The game was actually supposed to be played in the Rapids but due to some administrative issues Point agreed to play the game in Poynette as their home game against Rapids this season. So the second round will see SPASH travel and not get to play Rapids at home for the second straight year.

Rapids jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first  inning but saw the Panthers cut the lead by a third with a run in the bottom of that frame. SPASH added another run in the fourth to pull to within one. An eight run sixth put things away for SPASH.

The winning pitcher was Maddie Fink in relief of Andrea Cherney and Fink went 3x4 a the plate, the same feat she accomplished against Poynette on Tuesday. Ally Miklesh went 2x2. No other Panthers had multiple hits. Rapids had five hits but no player had more than one. Cherney fanned nine while fink whiffed four.

SPASH moves to 4-0 on the season.

In other action Merrill and Marshfield played a twinbill at the Arlington Firemen's park today. Poynette coach Bob Tomlinson secured the site and prepped the fields for them. Marshfield won the first game but the second game was shortened due to darkness as the Marshfield bus broke down a couple of times on the trip to dryer fields.
