Stratford, Athens seeking teams for Invite on April 21st -- Waukesha Hurricanes looking for players

Hello Fastpitch People,

The new year has arrived (Happy New Year).

Many folks either announce or personally make resolutions for the upcoming year. I seldom do but always do think about some things that I can do in the upcoming year to do things more efficiently and in a timely manner.

One of my thoughts for 2018 and the fastpitch world (especially in Wisconsin) is to publish more articles with lots of information than in 2017.

If you haven't read the news about the upcoming Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductees be sure to go back to that article and read it. There are some noteworthy people on that list.

The WIAA season officially begins on March 12th. That's just 68 days. It's just around the corner.

I have read posts about open gyms getting underway, hitting sessions at various commercially operated facilities. It won't be long and most school teams will be getting into the act.

In the next few weeks we will start to highlight most of the teams our core group of evaluators and rankers think will be teams that will be in the mix for championship seasons in 2018. Championships include invitationals where a champion is crowned, conference champions, regional champions, sectional champions and of course state champions. We'll try to list many of the state's top players as well as mention 2017 graduates who are playing at the collegiate softball level.

We will also attempt to start announcing information relative to current high school players who may commit to playing collegiate softball and what post secondary schools they will attend and play for.

Of course to get information published it will take some cooperation from many people statewide. People will have to notify me that there is information to be published.

Today, in my inbox I heard from Many Pankratz at Stratford High School. Her team and Athens are looking to fire up an invitational similar to the Poynette Jamboree, the Slam in Gilman and Thorp and others. They are seeking teams to take part. It would be at two-game event for teams involved. Contact Mandy at Stratford High School at ampankratz@gapps.stratford.k12.wi.us and she can answer all your questions.

I also had an email from Chris Kendziora in Waukesha. Here is his message to me passed on to you.
