The Macks of McDonnel Central located in Chippewa Falls defeated the consolidated school district of Blair and Taylor in the WIAA state championship game in Division 5 by a score of 7-3.
Blair Taylor got on the board first and led as much as 3-0 with two in the first and one in the second but could not muster another run the rest of way.
In the bottom of the first Charles walked. Fuselier was then on a sacrifice bunt 3-2. with Charles advancing to second base. Mc. Nehring grounded out to short but moved Charles to third. Curran walked and when pitcher Steien doubled, Curran scored. Berg pinch ran for Steien. Janzen then lined out to 2b.
In the bottom of the third Fuselier grounded out to the pitcher 1-2 befor. Mc. Nehring singled to left center. Curran then doubled to right center moving Nehring to third. Steien reached on a fielder's choice and courtesy runner Berg pinch ran for Steien. Janzen struck out swinging. Waldera then drew a walk which forced in Nehring for the third run. McDonnell got our of further damage when Keller grounded out to 2b.
In the top of the fourth Verbick grounded out to 2b to start out the inning . Schwandt hit a grounder to third but reached on a throwing error by 3b. Hiess singled to right field moving Schwandt to second, and she advanced to third on an error by rf. Hiess advanced to second on a throwing error by c; Schwandt scored, unearned. Baier reached on a throwing error by 3b, advanced to second; Hiess scored, unearned. Mlsna pinch ran for Baier. Bremness reached on a fielder's choice; Mlsna out at second ss unassisted. Rietschel struck out swinging.
In the top of the sixth the Macks got three more runs when Schwandt grounded out to 3b. Hiess singled up the middle. Baier reached on an error by 1b, assist by ss; Hiess advanced to second. Bremness flied out to lf; Hiess advanced to third. Rietschel reached on an error by 2b; Baier advanced to second; Hiess scored, unearned. Rice pinch ran for Rietschel. Rice advanced to second on a wild pitch; Baier advanced to third on a wild pitch. Opsal singled to right field, 2 RBI; Rice scored, unearned; Baier scored, unearned. Lorentz grounded out to 3b.
McDonell put things away in the top of the seventh when Jenson popped up to 2b. Verbick walked. Schwandt reached on a fielder's choice; Verbick advanced to second on an error by 2b, assist by 3b. Schwandt advanced to second on a wild pitch; Verbick advanced to third on a wild pitch. Hiess singled, RBI; Schwandt advanced to third; Verbick scored, unearned. Hiess stole second. Baier walked. Bremness singled to shortstop, RBI; Baier advanced to second; Hiess advanced to third; Schwandt scored. Sorenson pinch ran for Bremness. Rietschel flied out to cf, RBI; Sorenson advanced to second on an error by c; Baier advanced to third; Hiess scored, unearned. Eisenreich pinch ran for Baier. Opsal grounded out to p. 3 runs, 2 hits, 2 errors, 2 LOB.
