Poynette claimed the Capitol North title with a perfect 16-0 record and the top two individual conference awards were issued to a pair of the stalwarts on the Pumas' team.
Haley Radewan, a senior shortstop batted .491 in conference play with nine doubles, two triples and five home runs. She drove in 31 runs in 16 games. On the season Haley batted .46 with 53 his, 16 doubles, 5 triples and five homers. She drove in 49 runs, stole 12 bases in 12 attempts and had an OPS of 1.599. Her Quality At Bat percentage was .765 when using the nine normally used criteria.
Mattie Bredeson was a unanimous selection for Pitcher of the Year. After having been in the running for that award in 2016 as a sophomore and suffering a fractured Styloid process (fifth metatarsal on right foot) the award this year was a sweet one. Mattie was a perfect 16-0 and on the season was 24-1. She struck out 201 batters in 138 innings (1.45 per inning). She had a season ERA of 1.42
Rachel Renz of Poynette, an outfielder garnered the second most votes by the other five conference coaches. A lefty slapper and tapper batted .541 in 16 conference games and .484 on the season. She stole 36 bases without being thrown out. She scored 37 runs and drew 14 walks.
The third leading vote getter was 2016 Player and Pitcher of the Year Lauren Kirchberg of Columbus. A junior and all around player who pitches and plays infield, Kirchberg batted .509 in conference action with an OBP of .550, slugging percentage of .764 with 7 doubles, 2 triples and a homer. She finished the conference season with a 9-1 record and an ERA of 1.00 and had 85 strikeouts in 63 innings. 1.35 per inning). She was a team captain and is a three-year varsity starter.
Bredeson was the fourth overall leader in votes as she also is an accomplished hitter. She batted .410 in conference play with six doubles and two triples.
Columbus first baseman, senior Morgan Casper had a breakout season in 2017 and once she got going she was on fire. The fifth leading vote getter by the coaches Casper batted .482 in the clean up spot for the Cardinals and fielded every ball and caught every ball thrown to her 66 times.

Anna Manke of Lodi who batted .556 in conference play and moved up to first team after being named second team in 2016.
Brianna Farrington of Columbus who finished conference action with a pitching record of 5-1 and batted .429. She was second on her team in hits and runs scored
Brett Burger of Lakeside Lutheran had to take over pitching duties this year after playing shortstop her junior season. She did a workman's job in the circle and at the plate had a great year, batting .373 with three doubles and nine rbi.
Maddie Lindamann, pitched for Luther Prep her entire career out of necessity but is a great infielder as well. At the plate she batted .319 with four doubles and two triples and was 11x11 in stolen base attempts.
Shannon Jones is a junior infielder from Lakeside Lutheran. She batted .426 on the year with 19 hits in 54 at bats. She had 10 doubles and three home runs and 19 rbi in conference play and was a steady player in the field.
My Knuteson, senior catcher at Poynette had an amazing season behind the plate and her best of four season at the plate for the Pumas. She threw out every would-be base stealer on the year which was in double digits and most teams just didn't even try to steal. She had three passed balls on the year. She batted .386 in conference action and .377 on the season.
The twelfth and final selection to the first team was Bailey Ziemer a senior catcher who switched over to softball from soccer her first two years at Luther Prep. Bailey turned into a fine receiver and batted .490 in conference games. She had six doubles and one home run. Her QAB percentage was .520
