Longtime Winneconne Head Coach, Tim Whitford will be retiring at the end of the 2017 season.  Whitford started as Head Coach the same year that he was hired to teach Physical Education and Health at Winneconne.

He took 1998 and 1999 off with the birth of his children, Brandon and Kylee. His daughter is a senior and with her graduation, he felt now was a good of time as ever to retire.

In his 25 seasons, Whitford has amassed 365 wins against 209 losses, won seven conference titles while playing in four different conferences, five in a row from 2000-2004. Winneconne also won five regional titles with four in a row from 2008-2011. The closest the Wolves ever got to the State Tourney was in 2010 when they lost in the  sectional final  to eventual State Champions Luxemburg-Casco.

Whitford took over as Athletic Director five years ago and that takes much of his time and feels it is time to spend less time at the school and on the softball diamond as both of his kids are now out of school and off to college.

Whitford has been a member of the WFSCA Executive Board since 2012 and looks to continue to be involved with the board and softball in general going forward.

“It has been a great 25 years," Coach Whitford said. "We have not had a losing season in the last 19 straight seasons.  I have coached many great players and had outstanding assistants over the years."

When asked about some other highlights Tim answered, "While the wins are nice, the best part of coaching is the relationships that I have built with my current and former players. I have many great memories of all the games, all the umpires, good and bad and many wonderful relationships with coaches all over the State."

He then added, The best memory that I will take away from all of i,  is coaching my daughter Kylee in the 2017 All-Star game. That,  along with my outstanding coaching staff of Ray Lee, Lee Peerenboom and Mike Krueger. It is going to very special for me to coach my last game with my daughter on the field in the All-Star game with my assistants one last time."

"Tim's on-field presence will surely be missed by the sport in this state," said Poynette Head Coach Bob Tomlinson.  "He has been an ambassador for this great game."

Tim's numbers are posted on this website's Coaches Honor Roll. Check that out along with all the coaches who have submitted their information over the years.
