Three unearned runs in the first inning and three more in the second staked Athens to a 6-0 lead in the Marawood North Conference finale for both teams in Athens with Chequamegon as the home team.
Brooklyn Hanson's triple, an RBI ground out and a two-run double by Korrie Herbst halved the deficit in the bottom of the third and a double by Maggie Miller and RBI single by Klaudia Swanson made it 6-4 in the fourth.
Remi Orr doubled and scored in the fifth and doubled home two runs in a three-run sixth to pull Chequamegon within one before Athens tacked on three in the top of the seventh.
Swanson was 4-for-4, Orr and Hanson had three hits each and Miller and Korrie Herbst had two apiece for the Screaming Eagles.
