Winneconne holds off Waupun 1-0, earns share of conference title
Annika Gereau leads Winneconneto 1-0 victory thanks to 4 strikeouts. An excellent effort by Annika Gereau carried Winneconne to a 1-0 win over Waupun on Thursday at Winneconne High School. Gereau worked out of five tough situations for Winneconne. She pitched nine innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits. Gereau faced her toughest situation in the ninth inning. Kylee Whitford pushed Winneconne ahead, in the ninth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. With the game scoreless in the ninth inning Whitford came to the plate and hit into a fielder's choice. Megan Van Ruiswyk was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed one run.
