Schiltz, Spartans record second one-hit shutout to move to 2-0

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans improved to 2-0 on the season by posting their second consecutive shutout, 12-0 over Green Bay Notre Dame.  The team was once again led on the mound by pitcher Cassie Schiltz who threw her second one-hitter of the season and again struck out 12.  The Spartans scored early and often with 3 in both the 1st and 2nd inning and then 5 in the 3rd to take control.  The team added 1 in the 5th for the final tally of 12.

Dana Deterville, Madysen Thayse, and Taylor Cravillion combined to score half of the team's runs and collected 6 of the 7 hits the Spartans banged out.  The team's other hit was recorded by senior McKenzie Ronsman.

Portage 14, Cambria-Friesland 3
Cold weather was no problem in Portage's first game.   The Warriors beat Cambria 15-4 in 6 innings.  They pounded out 18 hits with every girl getting at least 1 hit.  All 3 pitchers for Portage saw action with Meghan Witt getting the win.  Portage opens at 1-0 and travels to arch-rival Baraboo on Tuesday.
Next game at Baraboo on 4/5

Lakeside Lutheran 15, Deerfield 4
The Warriors had little trouble in taking down the Demons in Lake Mills. Hollie Doyle picked up the win, allowing four hits, fanning five and walking two. Just one Deerfield run was earned as Lakeside was charged with half a dozen errors. Becca Doering was 4x5 and had one fourth of the 16 hits that the Warriors collected. Five other players each had a pair of safeties.

Marshall 3, Columbus 0
Marshall's cardinals topped the cardinals of Columbus in Marshall today. The game is always a key cross-over in the Capitol Conference. Marshall pitcher Dani Gumz broke up a scoreless game with a two-run single in the fourth inning and Marshall added another run in the sixth en route to the win. Marshall escaped a bases-loaded, no-out scare in the top of the fourth.
