New Ten-School loop is an interesting one

2016 Begins a new era for Luxemburg-Casco and nine other softball programs as the newly formed Northeastern Conference begins its inaugural year of competition.  Also in the conference are:  Clintonville, Denmark, Fox Valley Lutheran, Freedom, Little Chute, Marinette, Oconto Falls, Waupaca, and Wrightstown.

Luxemburg-Casco, coming off its second sectional championship appearance in the past three years and a Bay Conference Championship, looks to field another competitive team in the 2016 season.  Leading an experienced group is senior Taylor Cravillion, a 2015 Bay All-Conference and North East All District catcher.  Other returning starters are senior outfielder MacKenzie Ronsman, junior outfielder Dana Deterville(2nd Team All-Conference), junior outfielder Mariah Tebon(DP in 2015), junior infielder Cassi Dart, junior infielder Madyson Thayse(2nd Team All-Conference), and sophomore infielder Brianna Prevost.

LC will have the task of replacing seniors Brooke Bertrand, Sarah Kinnard and first team unanimous All Bay, Conference POY, All District and Second Team All State Pitcher Sara Simonar.  The aforementioned Tebon will be taking the place of Bertrand in the outfield while freshman Jenna Jorgensen will fill in for Kinnard on the infield.  Replacing four-year starter Simonar will be talented freshman Cassie Schilz, a NEC All-Conference performer in both volleyball and basketball.

LC feels with the mix of returning starting players and the influx of very talented underclassman they will again contend for a conference championship and beyond.  Motivated by their desire to be the state’s best has created a very hard working environment and a dedication to getting better everyday!

Traditionally strong programs Denmark, Freedom, Fox Valley Lutheran, Marinette and Wrightstown look to also be conference contenders.
