Will not take on Westosha Central with state berth on the line

Union Grove got a hard fought win tonight over a solid and well coached Janesville Craig team to advance to the Sectional #5 finals.  The Broncos came out of the gates swinging hot sticks with a leadoff single from Sophomore Kalista Hribar and linedrive single from Junior Sam Carey followed by a three run blast off the bat of Junior Claire Ryan, her 11th.  The Broncos continued to stroke it but couldn't plate any more runs in the inning.  Allie Trudeau toed the rubber for the Broncos tonight and gave another stellar performance as she allowed 2 hits, 2 BB's and struck out 10 and it was needed as Craig's Brandt would scatter a couple of hits the rest of the way and her defense played very well behind her to hold the Broncos to 3.  Craig got a run in the 5th on a single and an error on a pickoff attempt allowing the runner to reach second followed by a 2 out single to plate her.  They again threatened in the 6th on a one out error and a couple of walks sandwiched around a popout that loaded the bases but Trudeau induced an inning ending groundout to get out of the jam.  She would go 3 up 3 down in the 7th to nail down the victory and advance the Broncos to Thursday where they will play Westosha Central for the right to advance to State.
