LUXEMBURG – Sara Simonar’s squeeze bunt with one out in the eigth inning was all the Spartans (21-3) needed win the regional title in dramatic fashion.
Mackenzie Ronsman was hit by a pitch in the eighth and, after an error, advanced to third base before scoring the winning run.
Simonar also struck out eight in eight innings to get the win. After the fifth inning, Simonar faced just one batter over the minimum.
Amber Van Duyse allowed just three hits all game with 11 strikeouts for West De Pere.
Bailey Denis went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Phantoms (15-12).
