Alyssa Horn hits two-run shot for Wilmot

Westosha Central earned at least a share of the Southern Lakes Conference title with a 3-2 victory over Wilmot last night in Paddock Lake.  Alyssa Hrncar earned her 18th win of the season by limiting the Panthers to 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8.  “Alyssa did what she needed to in order to stop a very potent offense toda,” said Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe.”  She got key strike outs when she needed them and the defense behind her was outstanding tonight . The Falcons got off to an early lead when Hrncar reached on an error and then reached 3rd on a Kayla Konwent double.  Chyanne Onstad scored one of her two RBIs by plating Hrncar with a single.  Sarai Roberts, running for Konwent scored on a sacrifice fly by Kira Mickelson.

Wilmot tied the game in the 2nd.  With one out Kiana Vazquez walked.  She scored when Alyssa Horn hit a towering shot to left for a home run.

The Falcons took the lead for good in the 3rd.  Hrncar singled and reached 3rd on a Konwent single.  She scored on Onstad’s 2nd single of the day.  “Chyanne has gotten key hits for us all season,” added Lampe.  “This was just another time where she came through for us.

The Falcons had several opportunities to open up their lead including runners in scoring position in the

5th and 6th, but the Panthers shut down each threat.  “They played us tough all

game long,” added the coach. “ They are a dangerous team because they are capable of playing with

anyone.  They are not a team to take lightly.

Although the Falcons weren’t able to score more than 3 runs, that was enough for Hrncar and the defense.  “We need to see a couple of tight games to get us ready for what is ahead of us.  We kept our poise when we needed to,” said Lampe.

With the win Westosha Central improved to 20-2 overall and 12-0 in the SLC.  They can clinch the title outright with one more victory.  On Mondaythey travel to Burlington to take on the Demons.
