Two Weeks Remain in Regular Season

Fastpitch Bulletin

Things do change from time to time.

Change!

If things had not changed when it comes to the regular season length within the WIAA softball world the Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4 teams would be looking at their final week of regular season play. The post season would start next week.

However, change did occur and now all four divisions actually have the same length to their regular seasons instead of Division 1 having an extra week to play regular season games.

The tournament now starts on Tuesday, May 26th in round 1 with round 2 being the next day, Wednesday, May 27th with the third round (regional finals in all but one D-2, D-3 and D-4 sectionals) being Friday, May 29th.

There are still plenty of games to watch so get out to the ball yard and take in some great action.

Here is a play for you.

Runner at first with less than two down. Ball is hit to the second sacker who fields it and attempts to tag runner out going to second. Said runner goes out of an imaginary baseline to avoid the tag. Second sacker gives short chase and throws to first to get batter-runner. Umpire calls lead runner out for leaving the imaginary baseline and leaves runner at first when game proceeds.

Correct call?

Have a great day!
Keep it Rising!

Bob

It was the correct call. Ball remains alive and a double-play is only awarded if the batter-runner were thrown out on the force play at first.
