The Westosha Central Falcons improved to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference with a hard fought 3-0 victory over Burlington in Paddock Lake.  Alyssa Hrncar earned the win allowing only 2 hits while striking out 10.  “Alyssa was very sharp today,” said co-head coach Tom Lampe. “ She had command of her pitches.  She came very close to shutting down their line up completely.   It was Hrncar who opened up the scoring for the Falcons in the 2nd.  With one out, Brooke Biedrzycki (2 hits) singled.  After a stolen base and an out, she reached 3rd when Jenna Kontaxis reached on an error.  Hrncar then singled to score Biedrzycki but Kontaxis was caught off second to end the inning.  Westosha added a run in the 3rd when with 2 out Kira Mickelson singled. She reached 3rd on an Olivia Klean double and scored on a pass ball.  “That’s been something we’ve been able to do lately; score with 2 outs,” added Lampe.  “To be successful you need to do things like that.  It says a lot about the girls’ approach at the plate.”  The Falcons added a final run in the 5th.  The big blow was a Mickelson (2 hits) triple to right center that scored Chyanne Onstad.  “That was a big run because it allowed us to settle in and just play defense and that is something we’ve done very well in the last few games,” added The Falcons ended the day with 8 hits while stranding 6 runners.  “Overall I thought we had very good at bats.  Our offense has been picking up lately.  Give their pitcher credit.  I thought Danielle (Koenen) pitched about as good as I’ve every seen her.  And their defense made some key plays when they needed to  (4 Westosha runner caught off base).  I don’t think we made bad decisions, they just made great plays. “ Burlington gave us a great game.  In the overall picture, I think we played a solid game as well.  This was a case of a very well played high school game.  The Falcons will not have time to rest.  They play tomorrow night against Rice Lake and a double header on Saturday at the Poynette Jamboree.
