Westosha Central beats Delavan Darien 11-0

Hrncar twirls two-hitter, fans 10

Westosha Central used a solid performance by Alyssa Hrncar to shut out the host Comets and the Falcons cruised to an 11-0 6 inning victory over Delavan Darien. Hrncar allowed only 2 singles while striking out 10 and walking 2.  “Alyssa had another solid day in the circle,”said Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe.  “ She kept their batters off balance and controlled the tempo of the game.”  The Falcons opened up an early lead by scoring 4 in the 1st inning.  Hrncar led  off with a single which was quickly followed by a Kayla Konwent (3 singles) base hit.  Both scored when Chyanne Onstad reached base on a throwing error.  Kira Mickelson walked and both she and Onstad were plated on an RBI single by Olivia Klean.  In the 4th the Falcons again took advantage of Comet miscues to score two more.  Jenna Kontaxis (2 hits) had a one-out, one on single.  Hrncar then reached base on a fielder’s choice.  Konwent plated Kontaxis and Hrncar scored on an error by the center fielder.  The Falcons put the game away in the 6th by scoring 5 more runs.  Julia Jester, Heidi Holmstrom and Jenna Kontaxis all reached base to start the inning, with Jester scoring on Kontaxis’ hit.  With one out Known singled to left to score  Olmstrom and Kontaxis.  The scoring ended with a two-run home run to left field by Mickelson.  “We hit a very good pitcher today,” added Lampe. “ It seemed like each batter was getting quality at bats.  We like the progress we are making at the plate.”  With the win Westosha Central improves to 5-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and 10-2 overall.  They will return to action on Monday when they travel to Waterford to face the Wolverines.
