Here is a question for everyone out there.
On Saturday,Appleton North Freshman Marissa Mullen hit an automatic homerun in her first career varsity plate appearance. Any idea how many times that has happened in state history?
Here is a crazy play I have never witnessed or even ever heard of happeing. Imagine this. The batter hits a rather high pop up right out in front of home plate. The pitcher charges in to catch it and the catcher charges out to catch it. The pitcher and the catcher collide. The pitcher loses her glove and it lands on the dirt with the pocket open and facing up. The ball returns to the dirt and – hey wait a second the ball does not return to the dirt, instead it bounced perfectly into the pocket of the pitcher’sdisplaced glove without touching the dirt. It then bounces up into the air again and the catcher snatches it out of think air before the ball goes back to the dirt or the pitcher’s glove.
What is the correct call?
The week’s weather is supposed to heat up and so will the fastpitch action across the state. The WFSCA is posting a first week ranking this week. The Fastpitch Chronicle rankings will begin next week after more teams have played more than one or two games. Fastpitch Chronicle rankers have already been sending in their thoughts and lists but we will still wait till next week to publish our first listing.
Head coaches ought not forget to nominate senior players for the all start series. That deadline is the 15th (just like your taxes) so get er done!
