Westosha Central 1, Union Grove 0 - Hrncar tossed no-hitter for win

Westosha Central earned their third straight trip to the WIAA state tournament on Alyssa Hrncar’s first no-hitter, 1-0 against Union Grove at Wilmot yesterday.
Hrncar faced 22 batters, only allowing a walk through 7 innings. “She was great in the circle today. She had the poise of a veteran, which she is.” (co head coach Tom Lampe) Hrncar was backed by a solid defense. Hailey Jester recorded 4 put outs, three of which were run down in foul territory. “The defense had been solid for quite some time. It allows our pitchers to relax and just throw the ball.” (co head coach Tom Lampe) The Falcons did struggle at the plate, getting just three hits. They were able to push a run across in the 5th inning.
Brooke Biedrzycki led off with a walk and was sacrificed to 2nd by Hrncar. Taylor Bergles (two hits) roped a double to left but Biedrzycki got a late break on the play, resulting in runners at second and third. An intentional walk to Kayla Konwent (2nd of the game) loaded the bases. With two out and Hailey
Jester at the plate, Bronco pitcher Brittany Moore uncorked a wild pitch that scored Biedrzycki. “That was a huge break for us. We had some other chances to score but their pitchers kept us in check.” (co head coach Tom Lampe) That was all the runs Hrncar would need. She put down all 6 batters she faced to end the game and sent the Falcons to Madison. “This team just keeps finding ways to get it done. Hopefully we can keep it going for three more games.” (co head coach Tom Lampe) With the win the Falcons improved to 25-3 for the season. They will
face Racine Case (2-1 winners over Bradford) in the first game of the Division 1 State Tournament (9:00 at Goodman Field).
