Emily Cibulka hits first-ever automatic home run

Poynette catcher Emily Cibulka hit a two-run homer to highlight a seven-run first inning in Poynette today as the Pumas took on Capitol Conference South member, Cambridge. The final score was 19-5.

A rainy week so far forced the two team to cancel any hopes of playing in Cambridge as scheduled but Diamond of Champions in Poynette was in superb condition with no standing water and no greasy areas. The game site was switched.

A little bit of Diamond Dry and things were a go right after a round of infield. A light rain prevailed throughout the game forcing dozens of ball changes but conditions remained sound.

The Pumas plated seven runs in the first inning with five of them being unearned as the Blue Jays committed five errors, two on one play in the inning. Cibulka hit her home run with one aboard. All-in-all the Pumas collected 21 hits including six doubles, a triple and Cibulka's homer. Jordyn Mackey went 3x4, Shelby Wheeler was 2x4 with a double and triple, Samantha Lenius doubled, Autumn Peck doubled, Riley Barnharst was 2x2, Kelsey Saager was 3x3, Brittany Falk was 2x2 with a double and Dani Treinen was 2x3. Sophomore utility player Brea Falstad doubled as well.

The winning pitcher was Jordan Blochwitz who fanned eight and walked six. Freshman pitcher Haley Radewan pitched the seventh and fanned all three Blue Jay batters she faced.

For Cambridge, Loether was 2x2 while Kelter doubled. The Blue Jays reached Blochwitz in the bottom of the first on two walks and succeeding singles by Loether and Learma. The scored three unearned runs in the fourth on a missed fly ball to centerfield and a throw down to second on a steal with runners on one and three. The runner at three scampered home when the throw went to the bag at two.

Poynette hosts Lodi on Thursday before competing in the Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree on Friday and Saturday when 50 other teams invade Poynette, Arlington. DeForest and Portage.
