Poynette's Jordan Blochwitz records third no-hitter of the season

Jordan Blochwitz turned in another stellar pitching performance today as she tossed a five-inning no-hitter against Lakeside Lutheran. Blochwitz fanned six and walked none, allowing two runners to reach base after an error. Earlier this seasn she threw a seven-inning no hitter at Columbus and had a five-inning perfect game against New Glarus.

On the offensive side of things the Pumas recorded their tenth victory of the season with a 10-hit attack that included singles, doubles and triple and a home run. Amber Peck doubled as did McKenna Kelsey while senior outfielder Samantha Lenius tripled to the gap in right center that plated two runners. In the bottom of the fourth inning, sophomore utility player Riley Barnharst hit a liner over the fence just to the left of center to boost the score to 10-0.

Junior third sacker Jordyn Mackey got things rolling leading off the bottom of the first with a single through the hole on the left side. Shelby Wheeler drew the first of five base on balls off losing pitcher Elise Matthies before Lenius hit a drive to the gap for her two-run triple. She later scored on a 6-3 ground out off the bat of Brittany Falk. Barnharst then drew a base on balls and scored on Kelsey's double that rattled the fence in leftcenter. The Pumas plated three more in the second when Mackey rolled another infield single toward third, stole second and scored on a screaming single to right off the bat of Lenius . Kelsey Saager drew a base on balls off Matthies and later scored when Barnharst lined a shot through the box and into centerfield. Barnharst did the rest with the bat in that fourth with her three-run liner over the 200" sign in center.

The Pumas play in the Portage Invitational tomorrow when they will take on the host Warriors and then be pitted against LaCrosse Logan. Game times are 10 and noon.
