The Jesters held court today for the Falcons

The Westosha Central softball team staged some late heroics to outlast Burlington 4-2 in eight innings today.  Julia Jester’s single in the eighth inning scored her
sister Hailey with the tie breaking run.  Kira Mickelson added an insurance run, scoring on a throwing error.

Alyssa Hrncar earned the win allowing two runs (both earned) on seven  hits.  She struck out six and walked two.  “Alyssa had a gutty performance tonight,” said Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe. “ They were sitting on her fastball and they did a good job of being patient at the plate.”

Although Kayla Konwent had four hits, it was the Jester sisters that caused the greatest damage. In the third inning Hailey Jester poked a one-out single to right field
which scored Konwent and Larkin Langston, who had two hits on the day, providing the Falcons with a 2-1 lead.

Burlington came back to tie the game in the bottom of the frame when Randi Jackson’s two-out single plated Kira Allen.  A pitcher’s duel ensued between Hrncar and Danielle Koenen.  Again it was Hailey Jester who led off the decisive eighth innning with a walk that produced the winning margin.  “That was a real great game,” added Lampe.  Burlington is a very solid, well-coached team.  They have improved so much since last season.  We played well, we just didn’t get the big hit when we needed it.  Give credit to Burlington.  They rose to the occasion almost every time.  In the end it was a solid team win.  We’ve been able to get
someone to step forward and carry the team at critical moments.  Tonight it was
Hailey and Julia.”

With the win the Falcons improve to 6-0 in the SLC and 10-2 overall.  They return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Elkhorn for a 4:30 start.
