Pepin/Alma split a pair of games, loses to Durand, beat Elmwood/Plum City

Well I would rather win ugly then lose pretty! Another back and forth battle tonight that saw us make several mistakes on defense! We have to get better on defense period! Way too many mental mistakes.......Down by 1 going to the top of the 7th in Elmwood Senior Cori Terpstra led off with a single up the middle and Katie Herold hit the next pitch over the center field fence to give the Eagles a 1 run lead with no outs. After a strikeout and a fly out to left sophomore Hanna Peters doubled and was brought in by sophomore Kaydence Ruff's single to give the Eagles a 2 run lead! We gave up a run in the bottom but held on to the victory! Our Defense has to improve!

Westosha Central 9, Delavan-Darien 2

The Westosha Central softball team swept a double header in Delavan last night, taking the opener 9-2 and coming back to win the nightcap 9-6.  Alyssa Hrncar earned the win in both games and the Falcons pounded out 22 hits between the two games.  In the first game the Falcons jumped to an early lead when Kayla Konwent smashed a three run homer off Jennah Speth.  Konwent went 3-4 by adding two singles. Taylor Bergles also added a home run off her two hits.  Hrncar, Kira Mickelson, and Hailey Jester also added hits.  Hrncar kept the Comets off balance allowing 5 hits and striking out 10.  In the nightcap the Falcons overcame a four run and three run deficit to defeat the Comets.  Olivia Klean struggled early but gutted out three and 1/3 innings before being relieved by Hrncar; who gave up only 2 hits and no additional runs along the way.  “We hit a little wall in the second game.  It took us a while to get it going,”  said co Head Coach Tom Lampe.  The Falcons finally broke it open in the 4th inning with a few solid hits and a couple of miscues by the Delavan defense.  The big blow was a two-run double by Konwent.  Earlier in the game, the Falcons opened their scoring with a two-run RBI double by Klean.  Through it all the Falcons had enough to overcome missed opportunities and come out victorious.  “Your not
going to be clicking every time out.  On those days you need to be able to gut
it and grind it out.  That’s what today was like.  I’m glad we don’t have to
face them again this year.  They always play us tough,”  added Lampe. With the wins the Falcons improved to 5-0 in the SLC and9-2 overall.  They return to action on Thursday when they travel to Burlington for a 4:30 game.

Chippewa Falls takes Rice Lake for two, 6-2 and 9-2

Burlington tips Union Grove 6-1

Burlington turned 10 hits and three Union Grove errors into six runs and beat the Broncos today.

"We issued seven free passes tonight," said Broncos' coach Ryan Boylen. "BHS to their credit put the ball in play and we failed to make plays. Offensively we failed to make any adjustments and put much pressure on BHS. Give BHS credit in that Koenen pounded the zone and forced us to swing the bats and we didn't do a very good job of that tonight. Hats off to BHS on a good win for them."
