Fastpitch Bulletin

A gorgeous day for fastpitch!

Hello Everybody!

Today was, in this part of the state, a great day for fastpitch softball. Although some rain did pass through a few counties and rain out some games, many contests were held. I know that in Columbus the non-conference tilt between the Cardinals from Mayville and Columbus got washed out.

Tonight’s bulletin centers around reporting and recording scores and game summaries. There are lots of statistical options now days. From the longstanding method of using a a paper scorebook and transferring that data by hand to a stat sheet to using things like Game Changer, I-Score etc.

When I go through the scores each night I enjoy, really enjoy the games where the coaches or stats folks have loaded the statistical information from the game. It’s not hard and it’s a great way to get kids some notoriety.

Yah, yah, I know there are coaches out there who stand by the philosophy that it’s all about the team and not individuals. I get that. However I also get the fact that in most areas of the state the linescores and leading hitters along with pitching information gets posted in daily papers anyway. People see that stuff.

The wissports.net site offers statistical opportunities. Here is how to go about doing it on the site.

As a reminder, here are instructions on entering stats in our system:

The coach or statistician (person with username and password) can now control your team's information by going to your team page on WisSports (and make sure you are logged in with your account of course). Once there you should see a yellow and grey "light switch" on the right-hand side of your browser window. If you click this switch the page will go into "edit mode". Once in edit mode you can add/edit your roster, edit your schedule, submit game stats and more. To edit the schedule go to the schedule tab along the top, to edit the roster go to the roster tab and so on.

Entering stats is done most efficiently through the Mass Score system. While logged in and in Edit Mode, go to your Game Schedule. You will see a yellow bar with Mass Score; click on the Mass Score button. A new tab will load in your browser window, which may take a few seconds to load fully. Once it loads you will see your schedule, with an Edit Stats button next to each game. Clicking on that will allow you to select your team and add player stats pretty quickly. You can also go to your regular team schedule and click on either "Scheduled" or "Final" next to the listing. On the next screen you can Edit Game Details (location, etc.) and there is also a big button for Edit Stats.

Please note, it is very important you enter the score by inning for both teams. If you do not, the system reads the blanks as 0's and changes the game scores to 0's.

You can utilize the popular iScore app for live stats and upload directly to WisSports.net. Here's a link to more information: http://www.wissports.net/news_article/show/369505?referrer_id=533348

So there you have it.

Give it a go. I will post links each night to games that have the information on the site.

Or you can type up a written game summary and pass it along to me via e-mail.

Have a great Fastpitch Week.

Keep it Rising!
