Fastpitch Bulletin

And there's new grass on the field!

Wait! No, there is not new grass on the field. There's new snow on the field and it appears to be statewide.

The weather report from Tuesday indicated that the part of the state I live in (Columbia County) has received 53+ inches of snow this winter season. It said that the Wausau area has had nearly 70 and there has been even more up there near Maple, Hurley, Superior etc. It's not going to disappear anytime soon either by the looks of things.

We'll be starting to post pre-season team and conference previews very soon. What will make the previews and outlooks great is that fact that a great list of coaches statewide have agreed to work on the the previews of teams in their conferences.

The Fastpitch Chronicle rankings will begin after the games get started but we will be publishing watch lists in each divisions complete with factors that lead our rankers to believe a team should be included on the watch list. Our rankers consist of current coaches who stay abreast of things on a statewide basis and not just in their geographical areas. There are also former coaches, many retired, that still get out to the parks and watch teams play. We also use a few umpires who obviously see lots of teams and players at all levels. The other important factor we utilize are people who simply love the game and get out to the ball yards to watch games when good teams are playing each other. The Fastpitch Chronicle rankings is not a coaches poll. It never has been.

Eleven days from now the WIAA softball season officially begins.

Tomorrow I will post the list of schools that we have official contracts returned for covering the Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree. Be sure to check that list out if you are planning on participating in the event. If you are planning on games and don't see your school on the list be sure to contact me immediately.

Have a great day!

Keep it Rising!

Bob
