The Verona Cougars are the traveling tournament team arm of Verona Area Girls Softball Association (VAGSA). This year, we fielded tournament teams for 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U. Next year, we are hoping to expand into 18U. Generally, our athletes are from Verona but we do recruit and encourage athletes outside our area to consider trying out with the Cougars.
The girls practice throughout the winter and also focus on core strength training. Our fees are somewhat reasonable as we focus on player development and their enjoyment of more competitive play.
WHAT: Tryouts are approximately 1.5 – 2 hours in length
WHERE: Country View Softball Fields – VAHS Softball Diamonds
(Located behind Country View Elementary School in Verona)WHEN: Sundays, August 18 and August 25
Player must attend at least one session (can attend both as well)
COST: $5 Tryout Fee (non-refundable)
TRYOUT SESSIONS:
Tryout sessions are determined by your age on January 1, 2014. Plan to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your age-appropriate session to register and warm-up on your own.
SCHEDULE:
I. 9:00a – 10:30a 10U (2003, 2004, 2005)
II. 10:45a – 12:15p 12U (2002, 2001)
III. 1:00p – 2:30p 14U (2000, 1999)
IV. 2:45p – 4:45p 16U & 18U (1998, 1997, 1996, 1995)
Bring/Wear:
Athletic clothes, softball cleats, sliding gear, bat, glove, helmet, face masks, and bottled water. Please be sure to label all personal equipment in case it gets misplaced.
