Game Notes: Not a good day to play your worst game. That isn't to take any credit away from Craig. They played smart ball and executed very well. Our young ladies, if they have any pride or savvy they will learn from this loss and come back mentally tougher and with a better game IQ. You cannot give a well coached team like Craig extra attempts to manufacture runs and you cannot beat yourself or they will continue to stick the needle deeper and deeper and we felt the full length of that needle today.

Westosha Central 11, Burlington 0
Westosha Central won the regional championship with an 11-0 victory over
Burlington in Paddock Lake.  Sarah Fonk earned the win with a one-hit shut out while striking out 12 of the 17 batters she faced.  "Sarah was very solid
tonight.  She located well and kept their hitters off balance.  This is what
we've seen from her all year," said Co-head coach Tom Lampe.  Fonk also led the offense tonight by going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored.  Maggie McMullin also had three hits while scoring two runs.  The Falcons opened up the game with a nine run 2nd inning.  Liz Fonk and Larkin Langston each plated two runner each.  "The offense did a nice job of creating opportunities for themselves.  They adjusted well.  We need to continue playing smart ball like we did tonight."
With the win the Falcons improve to 18-1 on the season.  They will face the winner of the Wilmot/Fort Atkinson game in Paddock Lake next Tuesday.

Poynette 8, Waterloo 0
The Pumas behind a ten-hit attack and some excellent defensive plays along with a stellar pitching performance from sophomore righthander were able to get past the #1 seeded Pirates in Waterloo.

The Pumas took an early 2-0 led in the top of the first when drew a lead-off base on balls, advance to second after an out when junior rightfielder Samantha Lenius was hit by a pitch and scored on a flair to short right field of off the bat of junior first sacker Kelsey Saager. Lenius later scored on a sacrifice fly to left field off the bat of junior DP Brittany Falk.

In the bottom of the first Waterloo's D.J. Dorn singled to left and moved to second on a fielding error by the Pumas' leftfielder. Brennan Kurkowski then hit a ball to the shortstop's right that was bobbled momentarily. Her fake throw to first drew Dorn off the bag at second and she was out trying to scamper back to the bag at two. With one out and Kurkowski at first, Kaia Dorn laced a shot to leftcenter where Pumas' leftfielder Dani Treinen snared it and rifled a throw to first to double off the runner trying to scurry back to the bag. Those two plays really set the Pumas up.

In the second the Pumas mustered another run to go up 3-0 when sophomore centerfielder Jenna Sandstrom doubled to the corner in dead right field. She then scored when junior second sacker Allison Gorman delivered a two-strike single up the middle.

In the bottom of the second two straight errors at shortstop had Pirates aboard at first and second but Blochwitz coaxed a pop up to second, struck out Miranda Dorn and did the same to Jenny Kline.

A four-run third boosted the Pumas' lead to 7-0. After Lenius flew out to the fence in center on a great catch by Justine Sorenson, Saager singled, Falk singled, sophomore catcher Emily Cibulka was hit by a pitch loading the bases. Amber Peck replaced Cibulka as a courtesy runner. Sandstrom lined out to short but with two down Gorman delivered her second hit in a row, a two run single u[p the middle leaving runners on the corners. Gorman then stole second base and when the #9 batter, Dani Treinen singled, both runners scored making it 7-0.

Blochwitz produced a 1-2-3 inning in the third while in the fourth she faced five but a lead runner was cut down on a force at third for the second out and when Blochwitz coaxed a short fly ball to right off the bat of Miranda Dorn, Lenius was there to catch it.

The Pirates went down in order in the fifth and sixth while Sandstrm had what was a sure triple taken away when her shot to left got under the portable fence. She was stranded there when the inning ended. In the Pumas' sixth they loaded the bricks with nobody out but pitcher Ally Renforth made a great snare on a sharply hit ball at her feet by throwing to home and the relay to first completed a 1-2-3 double play. Renforth then caught Falk looking at a knee high fastball to get out of trouble.

The Pumas got a runner to first to leadoff the seventh she was cut down on a great pickoff throw by catcher Kaia Dorn. The inning ended 1-2-3 for Poynette.

With just three outs to record Blochwitz went to work in the bottom of the seventh. Sorenson singled just off the outstretched glove of a diving second sacker but when Ashley Kneisel hit a roller to short the Pumas retired the pinch runner for Sorenson for out number one. Miranda Dorn popped out to Gorman at second before Kline reached on an error at shortstop. Blochwitz ended the game on a come-backer to her off the bat of Morgan Kegler.

The Pumas moved to 20-6 on the season with the win and will host Brodhead in Poynette in the sectional semi-final. It marks the fourth consecutive sectional trip for Poynette after having been beaten in the regional final by Deerfield in Deerfield in 2009.

New Lisbon 3, Cashton 2
