Lakeside Lutheran Warriors 8, Luther Prep Phoenix 0

This was a great team win.  We had to work hard for our first few runs.  Li Schroeder kept us off balance for the first couple of innings.  We did a solid job of putting the ball in play in the short game early.  Britt Magsamen, Bailey Kerr, and Kristen Tetzlaff had big extra base hits in the middle innings.

Hollie Doyle had a great day in the circle.  She carried a no hitter into the top of the 7th.  She did a great job in throwing a one hit shutout.

Edgerton will be a sound opponent we will press on and work to get ready to face them Tuesday.

Westosha Central 9, Union Grove 5 (This was played on Wednesday)
Westosha Central capped off a perfect season in the Southern Lakes Conference with a 9-5 victory over Union Grove last night.

Sarah Fonk earned her 11th conference win by allowing 5 runs (all unearned) on 9 hits while striking out 11.  "Sarah had to do a little more today than she's had to for most of the season.  They did a great job of putting the ball in play and we helped them out slightly on defense," said Co-Head Coach Tom Lampe.

Uncharacteristically, the Falcons committed several errors which allowed for the extra opportunities.  "We just weren't as sharp as we normally are.  I
know the girls will fix it moving forward, the coach added.

Union Grove was also generous to start the game.  The Falcons opened the first inning by scoring three runs off of three Bronco miscues.  "Although this
didn't affect standings, I think both teams get excited to play each other.
There is a great respect between both programs and I think the adrenaline was high, added Lampe.

The Falcons added to their slim lead in the 3rd and 4th innings.  In the third, Maggie McMullin came through with a two out RBI single.  "That was a great a bat.  She went with the pitch on a two strike count.  "That helped to pick us up,"Lampe said.

Union Grove responded in the 4th with three runs on 3 errors to close within two runs.  But in the 5th Taylor Bergles put on the finishing touches with a two run home run to left.  "I breathed a little easier when we extended the lead but I never feel comfortable with that team,"quipped the coach.

Both teams settled down after that.  The game ended when Liz Fonk caught a foul ball and then gunned down Annie McClelland trying to take 2nd on the play.  With the win the Falcons improved to 17-0.  They will face Kenosha Bradford in their regular season finale tomorrow in Paddock Lake.

Game Notes: Well it wasn't the prettiest of games as both teams made their fair share of mistakes early, however, Westosha's ability to get hits when they needed them and Union Groves inability to come up with timely hits was the difference in this game. The reality is that Westosha is a very good team and you can't give them extra outs and extra baserunners and UG did that tonight.

Union Grove 6, Indian Trails 0 (From Wednesday)

ITA line: 0, 2, 2
UG by inning: 1 in 1st, 1 in 2nd, 3 in 5th, 1 in 6th

Game Notes: The Broncos parlayed 2 errors in the first into 1 run and 5 BB's in the 5th into 3 runs without a hit. The Broncos certainly got some help in this game but Alyssa McClelland and her defense behind her didn't need much as they played yet another very good game.

Chequamegon 4, Neillsville 1
Megan Mader tossed a 4-hitter and the 10th-ranked Chequamegon High School softball team rapped 10 hits in a 4-1 victory at 13th-ranked Neillsville on Thursday. Both teams are #1 seeds in their regionals and earned first-round byes in the WIAA tournament.

Michelle Lobermeier led off the first inning with a single and Danielle Masterson and Brianna Mader drilled RBI doubles in the frame to put the Screaming Eagles up 2-0.

Neillsville cut the deficit in half with an unearned run in the third.
Chequamegon answered back with a deuce in the fourth. Pinch-hitter Emily Ernest opened the inning with a single up the middle and stole second. She moved up on Hannah Gruber's single, and scored easily on a perfectly executed suicide squeeze by Emily Mader. Gruber then scored on an RBI single by Lobermeier.

Megan Mader needed just 69 pitches to notch the win, walking one and fanning one with some excellent glove work behind her.

The win pushed Chequamegon's record to 14-3 on the season..
