"Hey Coach, the weather is bi-polar today," Samantha L. from Poynette

Fastpitch Bulletin

"Hey Mr. T, the weather is bi-polar today!"

That is a quote from one of the Poynette softball players during the Poynette JV Jamboree and Varsity Round Robin held today when the weather transistioned often from partly sunny, to mostly cloudy with periods of some rain, ice crystals, sleet and wind.

She hit the day right on the head! Samantha can always come up with a one-liner that cracks me up.

She can also hit and play rightfield pretty darn well.

She lined a one-out single to center to knot the score today in a game that pitted the two teams that met in the WIAA Division 3 state tournament the past two years. They are the same two schools but aren't even a mirror image of the what they looked like in 2011 and 2012. However, both schools are still pretty darn competitive.

It was a "Great Day for Fastpitch" all across the state. In Poynette and Arlington we had another fantastic JV/Frosh Jamboree with some good pitching, great hitting and some super defensive play. The varsity round robin pitted Pacelli against Wausau West and against Poynette while Wausau West and Poynette squared off in the day's finale.

For me, it was a day to see longtime fastpitch friends as well as meet some new ones. Many came up and talked about the sport and about the Chronicle and the new-look www.fastpitchchronicle.net site and how it looks. If you haven't taken a look at it yet, do so. It will only be a few days and I will be switching most of the stuff on www.fastpitchchronicle.com over to the new site. Oh it won't be as colorful - no bolded red headlines, no blue sub-headings etc. but the information will be there and will be easy to navigate around. There will be more pictures. Especially if the readers start e-mailiing me stuff like my great friend Matt in Pepin has done. Send me the pictures in an e-mail and I'll add them to the slideshow on the home page for all to see.

It's been a crazy spring. Today was just another example of how crazy it has been. May 11th with all that bi-polar weather disorder.

It's late again tonight. I'm about shot for the week.

In closing - I''d like to thank the people from the southwestern part of the state that journeyed to Oconomowoc today and had kind words for The Fastpitch Chronicle. All we've ever tried to do is help people out and try to get the game into the general public's consciousness more than it is at any given time. It takes everyone who claims to love this game to do something for it rather than from it! It can be as simple as typing up a written game summary and taking the time to hit the send button or send one of those great pictures.

Have a great mother's day!
Keep it Rising!
Bob
