LaFollette's Newman twirls fourth No-Hitter of the season

She fans 17 and gets a perfect game

Madison LaFollette junior pitcher Nicole Newman tossed her fourth no-hitter of the season on Tuesday. This one was a perfect game came against Madison East and was a 1-0 victory for the Lancers.

Newman fanned 17 Purgolders and walked none.

The game-winner came in the fourth inning off the bat of Coulthart who hit an rbi triple for the game's only run. Newman was walked in the fourth and a courtesy runner, Megan Corcoran was inserted at first base. Corcoran attemped to swipe second base but was thrown out. Sophomore catcher, Amy Lazendorf then lined a Morrison offering for a one-out double to left center. The ball glanced  off the shortstop's glove  as it was a rocket over her head. The  next batter whiffed and brought up senior shortstop Haley Coulthart Here drive to right skipped past the right fielder as it was slicing toward the line for an rbi triple. Newman took care of the Purgolders to preserve the perfect game and the win for the Lancers..

For Newman it marked her sixth shutout of the season to go along with three no-hitters and the perfect game.
