It was another crazy day in Wisconsin!

A half an inch of rain fell here during the night nicely soaking down the infields on the two softball diamonds at the school and also the softball diamond at the park. The two baseball diamonds in town aren't so great however. It seems that almost all of the water off the two softball outfields makes its way onto the JV baseball outfield and just sits there.

We were supposed to host Westfield today but at about 2 PM it suddenly started raining hard. A quick look at the radar indicated that our part of Columbia County was directly underneath the heaviest rain in the front that passed through. It continued to rain for three hours. At 5:00 PM it stopped and the sun came out but it was too late. The damage had been done. When I left the infield on the varsity field was beginning to dry up pretty fast and so was the infield on the JV field. However, the outfield on the JV field was pretty wet as the water in left field of the other field had drained onto it. They both will be playable tomorrow barring rain during the day.

Winneconne took on Clintonville today and scored a twinbill sweep over the Truckers. Abby King hit for the cycle for the Winneconne Wolves. Hitting for the cycle is a pretty rare thing. She earned a Fastpitch Chronicle "Hitting For The Cycle" certificate for her efforts.

Pepin/Alma took on Elk Mound today in Alma on the bank of the "Big Muddy." With the Mississippi River as a backdrop of sorts the two tough, Dunn-St. Croix clubs squared off. Pepin/Alma came out on top 4-2. They'll meet again before they each go their separate ways in the post season if the weather permits.

I don't want to beat a dead horse so to speak so I'm not going to type about the weather forecast for this week other than say -- Good Luck!

Tuesday appears to be a day where some games could get played on facilities that drain well and have great grounds crews (usually the head coach at most schools out there with a shop vac, shovel and bucket or brooms and brushes.

Send games summaries to me for posting.

Keep it Rising!
Bob
