On behalf of the Midwest Speed and Midwest Speed National Holt we congratulate Piper Olson on her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville, in Louisville, Kentucky. Congratulations to the Head Coach of the Cardinals, Holly Aprile. Last season the Cardinals finished 27-25 as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Piper helped Midwest Speed National Holt reach the Alliance National Tournament for the 5th consecutive season with a 26-7-1 record. She was 5-1 with a 2.95 Era and 49 strikeouts in 42 innings. Her best performance was in a 3-0 loss to one of the top National Programs in the country, Indiana Magic Green. Green had 14 power 5 commits and Olsen went 5 IP with 0 earned runs surrendering only 4 hits while striking out a season high 9 batters.
Piper is the ultimate team player and understands the intricacies that make a team and pitching staff great. She's a lefty with great movement and has really developed into one of the best in the Midwest. One of the most impressive qualities of Piper has been her ability to fit in as her authentic self with her teammates and coaches.
She came from Grantsburg, WI and pitched last season for Mike Perry on Midwest Speed National Perry. She joined Nationals Holt for the Alliance Tournament and pitched well against National level competition. It's been in the fall with that she's seen the great improvement letting her pitch to contact style play with her elite infield that plays behind her getting strikeouts when needed.
Congratulations once again to Piper and her dad, Troy and mother Amy including Coach Aprile at Louisville! She is the 13th player to sign off of Midwest Speed National Holt and is the 9th Division 1 commit on their roster.
