On August 1st the WIAA Released the 2025 Softball Playoff Assignments. This will be the 1st season where the Tournament Performance Factor will be in place for teams that accumulate 6 points in a 3-year span. To review these procedures please click here as I have touched on this in the past.
Teams on the Move due to meeting the 6 Point Threshold.
Nine Teams met the 6 Point criteria, however 1 of them schools are already in Division 1 and therefore cannot appeal or move up. Brodhead and Freedom appealed their Division Promotion and were denied by the WIAA Competitive Balance Task Force and promoted to Division 1 and 2 as outlined.
Assumption, Grantsburg, Oakfield and Pacelli did not appeal and will be promoted as outlined. Fall Creek and Iola-Scandinavia Officials were reached for comment but were not returned, however WIAA Assignments show Fall Creek in Division 3 meaning they either did not appeal or they did and it was denied. Iola-Scandinavia is listed in Division 4 and that likely means they appealed and were granted.
2 teams request to move down a division
It was stated in the WIAA release a month ago that 2 Softball teams had requested to move down a division, 1 of them was granted and after reviewing the assignments that belonged to Sheboygan South. It is not known who the other school was, if any readers are aware please feel free to reach out.
