Thorp Head Coach Kurt Ryner was an assistant coach for quite a few years and coached alongside a couple of highly successful head coaches in Brian
Phelps at Gilman, a WFSCA Hall of Famer and then Brad Ceranski at Throp. When Brad parted ways with Thorp and headed for Fall Creek Kurt took over the head coach position at Throp.
Kurt has stepped in and continues to maintain the high level of success that program had. Earlier this week the Thorp girls snared the 100th victory in Kurt's short reign as the head of the program.
Today those girls boosted the program another notch by beating Mellen in the sectional final.
This trip marks the fourth time Thorp will play at Goodman Diamond on the University of Wisconsin Madison. All-in-all as an assistant at Phelps and Thorp and head coach at Thorp he will have been in a coaching box at Goodman during fat least six state tournaments.
